Introducing, for those who don't already know about it, one of my favorite pieces of the latest technology, the knfb reader moble! Yeah, you're gonna love this thing! For those of you who aren't already familiar with it, the knfb moble is a phone and reader at the same time. It costs a lot of money, but I love it! It scans documents by using a little camera. You hold the phone a few inches away from the page, then take a picture, and the software reads it to you. Also reads currency and much more...and can be used as a cell phone! There's a lot involved in purchassing it, you have to buy the software and the phone, but I love it anyway, and maybe someday I'll save up the money and own one. Anyway...what do you think about it?

can you not buy the software to go with an existing mobile with talks and/or mobile speak? that would seem a more reasonable way to be able to do this, and a way to move the software once baught from one handset to another.

I believe it only works on the N82.

That's correct. Currently it only works on the n82, because the n82 is currently the only phone with a good enough camera for the job. As more phones with that high end of a camera come out, they'll port it to those phones.

I thought the n95 had a decent camera. guess not

It does have a closer camera to the required specs, but not quite enough. (I have a friend with an n95 that talked to the KNFB people about it. I don't recall what made the n95's camera not suitable, but I can ask him if someone wants.)

it is the type of optic lense they used. They are just as good pixel rate.

I have ordered my Nokia n82 and will get the software soon

for any one that wants it the KNFB Reader home page is KNFBReader.com

I can't wait!

It sounds like a good idea. It's a shame it only works on that particular phone. I have a color detector on my phone, but it's not very good, because it keeps saying loads of stupid colors and being strange. I have a Nokia 6630, so probably won't be able to get the reader thing on there.

Another Nokia is coming out soon that the knfb will work on. I believe it's called the 6250 classic. KNFB is over prices as is everything else but I am still interested in getting it. the one amusing thing is at least the phones will come down in price but the software never will. The phones follow supply and demand I guess the software is in a different marketing concept. grin

I really want this phone. can you tell me how much the software for the reader costs.

I'm sure that like everything else, the software will be made available by other means in time. *smile* Just have to be patient.

does the softwear work with talks??

Post 15 by EssenceOfFaith (The Creamy Apple) on Saturday, 20-Sep-2008 8:28:09

Of course it does! The n82 is a phone which talks supports. But beyond that, I have a friend who has the n82 and loves the reader feature.

I checked out that home page it is cool! just wish it wasn't so expensive! I'm not sure of the actual price, and I only thought there was a certain phone that works with it, but looks like as they are improving it will be able to work on other phones. Maybe by the time I finish my contract with Sprint it'll be much better! Also this thing doesn't read currency very well, but I think they're working on it. Also the camera has to be held pretty high, at least the last time I saw one! It truely is a revolution, though, and it'll be out to more people in time! Also, how idd you get a color detector on your phone? Wow!
